Re: Recall descends into ugly farce (B.C. Views, Jan. 19 )

A few weeks ago I was hoofing my way to work when, through the window of a restaurant, I spotted a friend eating breakfast.

A new organization dedicated to urging politicians to base decisions on sound science is a welcome addition to Greater Victoria.

Sidney Mayor Larry Cross raised a roomful of eyebrows at the Mayors’ Breakfast when he said he had made a recent visit to Langford and liked what he saw. He liked it so much, in fact, that he thinks Sidney should emulate the look to a degree. To make Sidney “sparkle” like Langford.

The board of directors of the Residents and Ratepayers of Central Saanich, along with 20 to 30 paid members of RRoCSS, which includes some 20 per cent of voters at the meetings who are not residents or taxpayers of our municipality, has launched a Don Quixote style lawsuit against the Central Saanich council to rescind the approval on the Vantreight non-farmland proposal.

Our hats are off to the remarkable talent and outstanding effort on display at this weekend’s Canadian Figure Skating Championships.

In four lanes of one-way traffic on Vernon Avenue in Saanich, a pair of headlights bear down on morning commuters. With red and white flashing lights and the backwards ‘ambulance’ facing us, traffic parts in synchrony — as it should.
